Condition:

framed: 46 by 59½ in.; 116.8 by 151.1 cm. The canvas is thinly lined or strip lined and is no longer taut but is stable on its stretcher. The image reads very well beneath clear varnish. Some paint in the center of the sky and at upper left is beginning to lift and flake but no losses are present yet. No repairs are obvious to the naked eye. Under UV inspection, the varnish appears milky but some retouching is scattered in the background, mostly in shadowy areas. 2 small repairs are present in the sky at upper right. The flaking should be stabilized but otherwise the painting appears well and can hang in its present state. Offered in a simply carved wooden frame with gilt accents.
